Kristi’s fitness journey started after leaving a career in the Ontario Postsecondary College system in which she began as a Business Professor and finished with an executive position in Academic Services. She holds a doctoral degree in education. A lifetime of walking, swimming and yoga expanded to personal training that introduced her to strength training, plyometrics, core activation and body movement. She is developing and furthering her skill in a movement practice called Animal Flow.
Encouraged to undertake her own certification as a personal trainer, she leveraged her award-winning teaching background as she developed her client practice. After five years, she and her friend/business partner Matthew McKeown opened Highland Fitness and Wellness Inc in July 2021. Soon after, Jason Bullen joined the partnership. The gym prioritizes fitness for every individual according to their needs and goals, and total wellness as part of healthy living.
